Business is a dynamic and interesting subject that enables students to enhance their commercial awareness and develop a wide range of business related analytical and entrepreneurial skills.

They will investigate different types of organisations, identify investment opportunities and evaluate how markets affect business performance. The subject enables students to understand real world decision making processes and to critically evaluate the external and internal influences on businesses.

The new BTEC Extended Diploma in Business is equivalent to 3 A levels. Students on this course study 13 units over two years. These include 7 mandatory and 6 optional units carefully selected to cover all the business specialist areas, such as; Law, Economics, Marketing, Accounting and Management.

As part of the course, students will visit a range of workplaces and will receive input from many prestigious Business Partners and mentors.

Course Outline

The course consists of 4 externally assessed units - Units 2, 3, 6, and 7 - which are assessed at various times throughout the two years. These exams will assess your understanding of the overall Business Environment, as well as the implications of human decisions.

It can also support learners who want to progress directly to employment in job roles in business or business management and Higher Apprenticeships.
